About

Impact Travel Alliance is a guide site for travellers who care about the places they visit and want their trips to leave them better than they found them.

Sustainable, responsible, ethical travel — call it what you want. The principles are the same. Don’t make the place worse. Spend your money where it stays in the local economy. Don’t romanticise other people’s lives. Don’t take what isn’t yours. Be honest about your own impact.

What you’ll find here are full-length, practical guides on the choices travellers actually face. Should you book the cheap tour or the local-run one? Is the “eco lodge” really eco? What’s the actual difference between buying that handicraft from the airport stall vs. the workshop down the side street? The aim is to be useful enough that you bookmark a page, not preachy enough that you close the tab.

Every trip referenced here was paid for out of the writer’s own pocket. No press trips, no sponsored posts, no affiliate-first recommendations.

A note on language

Words like “sustainable”, “ethical”, and “responsible” are unavoidable when this is the subject. We use them when the sentence is genuinely about the thing, not as filler. We don’t use “immersive” — it’s empty marketing-speak. We don’t use “hidden gem”, “must-visit”, or “in the heart of” — they’re tells of writing that wasn’t actually researched.
